Game of the Yearの栄光を勝ち取ったのは、GDC Awardsと同じく『The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt』でした。同作はGame of the Yearだけでなく、Excellence in Technical Achievement 部門、Excellence in Narrative 部門でも受賞しています。また、モバイル版のGame of the YearはIGF Awardsの大賞作品『Her Story』が選出。その他、『Bloodborne』『Undertale』『Rise of the Tomb Raider』がそれぞれ2部門で受賞しています。なお、インディーデベロッパー/開発者を対象にした「Gamer's Voice」では、シングルプレイヤー部門で『SUPERHOT』、マルチプレイヤー部門で『Gang Beasts』が選ばれています。
